By regular contact via e-mail, prior to the holiday Laurence and I had put together a plan to tour the Garden Route in a self drive hire car. Highlights of this tour were Addo the Elephant Park, Mountain Zebra, two nights at the Drostey Hotel in Graaff-Reinet (where you must visit Nieu Bethesda), Oudtshoorn (the Cango Caves and the Animal Conservation Park) and Knysna where Laurence arranged our accommodation off the beaten track in what was described as ‘a Mediterranean style’ lodge. A night at the Old Post Office Tree Manor at Mossel Bay another at Struisbay the "Southerly tip of Africa", Robertson (dinner at the Bourbon Street Restaurant!) then Tulbagh on our way to Bushmans Kloof – if you go nowhere else in South Africa you must visit here. Down to the Victoria and Alfred Hotel on the Waterfront at Cape Town and finally a couple of days at Hout Bay Manor from where we visited the Cape of Good Hope before flying home.

Our holiday accommodation and car hire was booked and paid for by Laurence (50% paid with the booking in advance). We had made separate arrangements for flights being offered a good deal by a UK agent. I can thoroughly recommend Self Drive Southern Africa to organise your self drive tour and to provide satisfaction for your individual requirements.
